Laura Mattila and Mikko Merz designed their home renovation with a deep respect for the building’s heritage. For the duo behind design and architecture studio Mattila & Merz, this project was a chance to embark on a meticulous restoration, exploring the apartment’s history in depth – all without the pressure of a tight timeline.

In Kaisu Kaplin's home, art adds a touch of colour to the Scandinavian interior. 

“Our living room-kitchen is almost seven meters high. Only a fraction of the wall area is in use at the moment and I'm sure it will be filled with art over time. Still, I also love the feeling of empty space,” says Kaisu.

Jewelry designer Ildar Wafin’s minimalist 44-square-meter one-bedroom apartment in Helsinki’s Punavuori district is brought to life with carefully curated details, including a raised kitchen, wooden floors, and a green wall relief by Finnish sculptor Wäinö Aaltonen. The rooftop terrace adds an international flair to the atmosphere.
