Environmental consciousness finds expression in every aspect of Vitra’s work. It is manifested in how Vitra develops and manufactures its products, in the sourcing of raw materials and the organisation of its supply chain. Every new insight is regarded as an opportunity for further development. In this short film, Vitra explains where it stands with its environmental mission today.

Manufacturing sustainable items – including tomorrow’s heirlooms – is the alternative to the throw-away culture that creates plastic waste. That’s why all recycled plastics used by Vitra are in turn also 100% recyclable at the end of the product’s life cycle. In 2020 we introduced Tip Ton RE, the first Vitra chair made of recycled plastic. Since then, we have been continually expanding our use of this innovative material. In Vitra Circle Stores, we sell second-hand furniture and accessories that have been used, for example in sample presentations, trade fairs or exhibitions. After more than two successful years in Offenbach near Frankfurt, the Circle Store Germany is moving to the Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein. The Circle Store is thereby acquiring a more prominent location, which will shorten logistics routes and reach more visitors in support of a circular economy.
